Hallelujah. My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into diverse temptations, knowing this, that the trying of your faith workketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work that you may be perfect and entire wanting nothing. Hallelujah. Father, we thank you Lord for your word. We thank you God for the anointing that is in this room. I thank you Lord for the worship and I thank you God that we can step into your presence and know that you’re going to meet us right there. know that you’re doing something in the middle of of this sanctuary, in the lives of these people tonight. God, I thank you, Lord, that sometimes as we go through this old world and troubles and trials come at us, Lord, that there’s always there’s always something that you’re going to bring out of it for our behalf.
God, I thank you tonight, Lord, that you’re never late. I thank you, Lord, that you’re always on time. I thank you God that you never waste a moment, never waste a second. God, everything works out for the good. And God, we give you praise, we give you honor, and we give you glory in the wonderful name of Jesus. Can we give him a shout of praise in this house? Amen. Amen. You may be seated. I want to spend just a few moments tonight speaking on on this. This has been brewing for some time, and there may be a part two down the road. I don’t know.
Uh but sometimes this life brings a little bit of issue. And when I say issue, I I I don’t call them problems. Although I’m a math teacher and I know all problems have solutions. And if you call them problems, that’s your business. That’s fine. But issues sound just a little bit easier. But we all have issues, problems, whatever you want to call them. No. And when we come up on an issue in this life, we have choices to make. We have choices to make that uh would cause us to be in a waiting room, so to speak.
I think we’ve all been in waiting rooms for whatever purpose. And uh waiting rooms for uh in the ER, that that’s that’s not fun. Somebody say, “Amen.” Amen. That’s not fun sitting in the doctor’s office half a day waiting just to get in. Somebody say amen. No, nothing intended back there, Doc. It’s It’s never fun. It’s not even fun to wait for your food sometimes on Sunday. Say, “Amen.” Amen. I’ve seen some of you. Come on. I’ve seen you at the dinner table here. Here here’s the thing. It’s never fun to wait, but there’s always purpose in it.
Amen. And I’m here to tell you tonight that sometimes when you’re going through issues and uh situations in this life, you have pain associated with that. And it could be physical pain, but I’m talking about heartaches. I’m talking about uh problems that weigh you down spiritually and uh and fear tries to strike at your heart and tries to take you down and take you under and make you want to curl up in a corner and just quit everything. That’s that’s how the enemy works, folks. The enemy will work on you and he’ll bombard you and he’ll throw everything he’s got at you just trying to discourage you. He’ll try to keep you knocked down, beat down, and tore up from the floor up. I’m here to tell you that the enemy don’t let up.
The enemy doesn’t care about you. Don’t care about your feelings. That, as a matter of fact, the worse you feel, the better he feels. He wants to destroy you. As a matter of fact, he wants to take your life from you if you’ll let him. But I’m I’m here tonight to tell you that there’s a man named Jesus Christ, and he brings hope that in every situation, he’ll turn it for your good. Amen. Paul said in his writing in the book of Romans, he said, “All things work together for the good to them that are called according to his purpose.” In Romans 8:28, there’s always a purpose in your pain. And Brandon says, “Amen.” He gave me that title about over a year ago. Uh, and it’s it’s just been ruined.
And I I really don’t have uh exact notes written down, but I can tell you this much. I know that people in this room are going through different situations. We can go from left to right and have 15 different things are going on. What we got here? About 60 tonight. We probably got about 60 different stories are going on. We got people in here that’s wearing heart monitors right now as we speak. We got people in this room that’s uh under the care of doctors and got appointments made and waiting for healings to take place and waiting for doors to open, waiting for doors to close, waiting for waiting for closing on houses and waiting for this and waiting for that.
And I’m here to tell you sometimes that brings some pain. But I’m here to tell you if that’s what it takes to praise him, Jesus bring the rain. Come on, somebody. I’m here to tell you that in your pain there’s purpose. Amen. There’s purpose in your pain. And if you allow it to happen, and if you just simply hang on to what Jesus wants to do in you and through you and hang on, I’m here to tell you that God will do something wonderful for you and your family. Amen. And amen.
Trials produce spiritual maturity. Uh there there’s purpose in this. He said, “Let patience have her perfect work.” There is a purpose in it. In other words, there’s a purpose in it. That you might be perfect and entire. In other words, I am equipping you to do a certain thing. And uh now they know one of you going to go home and pull out a frozen pizza and put it on your plate and start chopping on it. Uhuh. No, no, no. Now, you might pull that frozen pizza out and turn the oven to about 400. And you might put it on there, but uh but you don’t take if it says put in there for 20 minutes. You don’t take it out 10 that’s good enough and the center of it just still froze like a block of ice.
You don’t do that. No. God will come through when you are a finished perfect product. Not in other words when uh not wanting nothing. What he is saying here when it’s time when it when you are done when I see my finished word you are a vessel on the wheel of the potter. Amen. We are all in the potter’s house tonight and you’re up on that potter’s wheel and and you know as well as I do that if you’ve ever watched them work with that old uh clay mud or whatever you want to call it, they’ll they’ll take a big glob of it. Some of us might still be in that glob form.
Amen. I ain’t saying I ain’t pointing fingers. See, there’s the glob. Just kidding. Listen, we might be in that glob form, but at least we’re in the hands. Oh, mercy. We might be in that glob form, but at least we might be in the hands of a master that sits at the wheel. At least we might be getting ready to be formed into something, but when he throws you on that wheel and it starts to spin and your world seems like it turns upside down. And as he turns that wheel and he begins to shape and form and shape and form, there’s imperfections in that mud.
There’s things that don’t belong in that mud that sometimes they got they got to pick that stuff out and and get it just right. And and here here in the book of James, he said, “I’m going to work it out to where you’re perfect and tired and not missing anything.” Oh, I serve a God that there’s purpose in your pain. Hallelujah. That potter when he takes that wheel and he starts turning it, the faster it goes, the more he mows, the rougher it gets. Yep. Oh, mercy. And then he starts forming a vessel.
Oh, wait a minute. It’s starting to look like something. Is it a saucer? Is it Is it a picture? Is it some kind of vessel that will hold some kind of whatever? He’s forming a vessel. And when the potter is forming the vessel, he uses his creativity. Just like our heavenly father, we are upon the will of the heavenly father. And he at the potter’s wheel is forming us in his creative work. And he is saying, “I’ve got something in mind for you, brother Jeff. You might be I ain’t going to say age. You might be this much, this old, but I’m still forming.
I’m still shaping. I’m still I’m Wait a minute. Hang on. Let me rub that part out. Let Let me Let me get that little imperfection. There’s an air bubble. Let’s get that out of there because that air bubble will cause that thing to crack when it goes. You don’t want to hear that part. I I’ll save that for a minute. But he starts forming and he starts shaping you and then you start looking like a ventil. Oh, that looks familiar. I think I know the use for that thing.
Amen. Oh, and just when you think you got it figured out, just when Oh, wait a minute. He changes his mind and he takes that still wet clay and and he Let’s start over. Anybody ever have to start over in life? Anybody ever have to have a re a reset in their life? Sometimes it becomes marred. The word says that we become marred in the hands of the potter. And it’s usually imper It’s always imperfections, not in the hands, but in the clay. Oh, can I preach a little bit right there?
There’s imperfection in this old clay of ours. And as as the potter is working with us, his first goal, he’s got to work that stuff until he gets all the imperfections out so that when he does finally form you into a true vessel that you’re not going to crack under pressure. Amen. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. And when that potter begins to maneuver and that that mud becomes uh it’s starting to dry out so it gets a little rough and then he starts forming again and man it’s starting to look a whole lot better. He takes that knife and he starts scraping. He’s getting it perfect. Dustin I I firmly believe that everybody in this room I know a lot of your situations. I know a lot of the stuff that you’re going through, been through, still going through, waiting on doors to open, waiting on doors to shut, waiting on different things, and and you know, you you put prayer requests in and and tonight it just simply like the Lord was directing and shifting and mo maneuvering and always on time. He’s never late and he’s forming this vessel.
He’s forming you, shaping you and making you pliable, usable all at the same time. You got to keep in mind that there is a process you got to go through. The process is not easy, young folk. Now, some of you older folk better say amen to let these young folk know that I know what I’m talking about. It’s not It’s not easy to be on the potter’s wheel, especially when you ain’t figured out what the vessel is. These young folks said, “Well, what does God want me to do? You want to preach with me? Come here. I’ll hold your hand. I’ll chase you all place. I’m in that mood tonight.
Listen, I’m I’m here to tell you that God is shaping Mike Smith still now. Getting the imperfections out and oh, and what a vessel it becomes when you allow him to do the work on you. Amen. Oh, sometimes we kick and scream sometimes. Lord, get me out of this mess. I love it. It it’s it’s the uh playole version. If you ever been to playole Pentecostal church, they they play the drums while you while you preach. You’ve been there. You’ve been there. Hallelujah. Praise the Lord. It don’t bother me. Be a high preacher at home.
That’s good stuff, ain’t it? Aren’t you glad that God ain’t done with you yet? I’m glad God ain’t done with me yet. This is not the final product, folks. And just when you think that that looks really good, when the potter has finally made the finishing touches on that dried, that mud is starting to dry, he said, “That’s it. That’s what I want.” He’s not done yet. Because now that he has formed the vessel, he’s got to put you in the kiln. What do you mean?
He’s got to put you in the fire because it’s the fire that finishes out all the impurities. It is in the fire where everything gets put out and it hardens you to where you are usable to the master. But it’s not easy to go through the fire. Some of you have been through a fire. Some of you going through a fire. And even as we speak, some of you been in a fire for a long time. Come on. You might as well raise your hand. Wait. Flag flag us down. You might say, “Lord, he’s he’s preaching my sermon tonight.” Because I’m here to tell you, there’s purpose in that. It’s not meant to destroy you.
There’s purpose in the pain. It is not meant to kill you. It’s not meant to push you away. The The purpose in the pain is to draw you close to him. The purpose and the pain is to uh is to prove you and to equip you for his service that when you come out, you’re going to look perfect entire, not missing anything. Amen. Oh, mercy. That’s good preaching right there. That’s good preaching. See, too many people, they get on fire for the Lord, get saved, start coming to church. Hallelujah. Praise God. Thank you, Jesus. and you you get in that prayer line and all of a sudden things start happening in your life.
Things start happening and you think everything’s falling apart and what you what’s really happening, God’s got you on the potter’s wheel and he’s trying to mold you. He’s trying to fix you. He’s he’s trying to shape you into what he wants for you to be. Now, there’s no prerequisite on how old you’ve got to be before you’re placed on the potter’s wheel. And there’s no prerequisite on how long it takes to get off the potter’s wheel. And well, that’s going to put you right into the fire.
And I’m here to tell you, some of you are in that fire right now. And you’re thinking, Lord, what’s going on in my family? What’s what’s going on in my life? And I’m I’m here to tell you, there’s purpose in the pain. Amen. There’s purpose. Some some of you are sitting here tonight and there’s others that should be sitting here. Now, we got a lot of folk on the road and all that kind of stuff tonight, but and and that’s that’s okay. But I’m here to tell you there’s people that have it in mind. I think I’ll go. Maybe I shouldn’t.
Maybe I should toying around. Should should I? I’m here to tell you I hope they tune in to the live stream tonight because there’s purpose in your pain. And sometimes God’s got to get you positioned just right so that he can finish molding you. So that yes, you can be put into the fire. And yes, the fire is not meant to kill you. It’s not meant to destroy you. It’s meant to deploy you. It’s meant to keep you equipped perfect wanting nothing. And God and God alone can bring out of you the those things that the enemy has tried to corrupt you with the things that the enemy has tried to destroy you with. The only one that can bring out those imperfections is God. While you are on the potter’s wheel down at the potter’s house right here in the altar of prayer, you need to seek the Lord and say, “God, get it out. Get it out of my life and let me be who you want me to be.” Amen.
Oh, mercy. Good for you. We have to allow God to do what he wants to. Amen. There’s purpose in your pain, Gerald. There was purpose in that pain. You didn’t see it at the time. Well, maybe cuz I never I never heard anything come out your mouth that said otherwise. You didn’t run away from God when they found the tumor. You run to God. Amen. And you didn’t believe the bad report. You declared the good report. And here you are. How many years later? 11 years.
11 years. Hallelujah. There still ain’t nothing up there. I’m sorry. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Explain that to M. You didn’t understand that. Listen. Well, you was out. You didn’t understand that. Listen. I’m here to tell you that there’s purpose in your pain. I’m here. When he went through that issue, God was preparing him. God equipped him through that process. I I seen what the man went through. I was there when they when they found it. But I was also there when you declared that it was not going to have the effect that the enemy wanted to have.
Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. There’s some of you sitting here that the enemy’s trying to take you out, take your family out, destroy you, and it’s not going to work. Why? Because in the long run, when you come out of the fire, just like the Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace, when they come out of that fire, when when the king said, “Hey, wait a minute. How many we put in there? Did we put three in? Yeah, that’s what I thought. But I see four. Hallelujah. Amen. In the fire walking loose.
Hallelujah. Hallelujah. And the fire has no effect upon them. Well, see, you might be going through a time of testing. You might be going through a trial. You might be going through a issue, a a mess. Uh, and you just go right down the line. Name every one of them. Here’s the thing. There’s purpose in it. And when you come out of it, you’re going to have a testimony. Because when those Hebrew boys come out of that fire, they come out and the king said, “Hey boys, hey, their king, their God, that’s who we going to worship.” Cuz any God that can bring them out of a fiery furnace heated seven times hotter, that’s the God that I want to serve. And I’m here to tell you that when you come out of the fire, you’re going to be perfect and tired, not missing anything.
Amen. See, when I was younger, when I was your age, Darren’s age, I wish I had and I I don’t know. Maybe I just wasn’t listening. That’s probably it. I just wish I had somebody to preach to me and say, “Listen, what you’re going through is meant to equip you. It’s not to destroy you. It’s not to shut you up. It’s to It’s to equip you to speak out. I was a quiet feller. I I wouldn’t hardly see. I couldn’t stand to sit in the front of a classroom in college.
We always sit in the back. You couldn’t you I’ll hush. I’ll get myself in trouble back here. But God taught me something through it. Hey, he taught me I listen I okay I wasn’t exactly dumb in high school but I didn’t try to be smart either. Did you hear me? I I didn’t put forth any effort. I didn’t do anything. God’s up there saying I’m I’m trying to mold you. You ain’t letting me. I didn’t put forth no effort. You have to put forth the effort. God will help you. God will mold you if you allow him to.
When I got into college and she said, “We’re not getting married till you graduate.” I’m like, “Okay, we made all these and we didn’t cheat.” Well, this online junk either. All right. This is the oldfashioned. get in the classroom and hear your professor teach and and take notes and study your notes and read your chapters and memorize and do this, that, and the other and know what you’re doing. And I did. We did. I graduated with a higher grade point average than somebody else sitting back there. That’s all I’m saying. Not mention any names.
It was a tenth of a point a three a 3.9 seven was my GPA in college because listen I could I I almost failed senior English. I’m not going to tell this but I’m going to tell it. You know that woman sitting there, the one that I’m married to for a few years when we was dating as a senior in high school. Dustin, she uh James Stabber, our English four teacher. You have to pass English to graduate. You had to have it. You couldn’t graduate. You was going to come. you you was gonna have to do it all over again.
And I’m like, you know, we’re getting ready to graduate. I’m talking the end of the spring semester, which it was the year. We didn’t do semesters back then. It was the final. And he led some great papers. Now, let me tell you, let me tell you, church, that woman sitting back there I’m going to change my language in a minute. I’m going have to go home to one of y’all. She would not change any of my answers. So that I would pass it. It was like she enjoyed it. Red ink flying every which way there.
Your mother would not change it so that I could pass senior English. But you know what God taught me through that? If you don’t do the work, I can’t do nothing with you. If you don’t put forth the effort, I I I can’t do nothing. But if you do your part, I’ll do my part. I learned real quick, don’t double cross her. Don’t do anything illegal. She’ll be be the one call the law on you. Pay your taxes. Do do everything. Don’t cuss and get in front of church. Tell everybody. And I don’t know why. Hallelujah.
Somebody pointed Mary, too. Hallelujah. He let me know, Peggy, that I had a woman that had integrity. Amen. He let me know that he had somebody in my corner that wasn’t going to cut corners that was going to do it just the way God said to do it. And she said it like this. We’re not getting married until we’re saved. Amen. I promise you she said that. Amen. You know, if young folk would approach that, approach their relationships in that same manner, I promise you, God is going to shake you into something that is going to be usable for his kingdom that will shake the demons of hell.
Oh, hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Who am I talking to that’s still on the potter’s swim? Who am I talking to that’s going through a mess right now? Who am I talking to that your family don’t know which way’s in or which way’s out or which one of you in this room, you don’t know what tomorrow may hold? Well, honey, I can tell you who holds tomorrow. He’s got you in the palm of his hands and he’s not going to leave you. He’s not going to forsake you. He’s going to mold you and shape you into something that is perfect.
But there’s pain associated with the molding. There’s pain associated with everything you go through. You know what I learned? I learned that if I didn’t do this, what I’m getting ready to tell you, I tend to have to go through it again. Every time something comes up, I always pray, “God, what am I supposed to learn out of this?” and then I shut up and listen because I don’t want to make the same mistake. If it’s my if it’s my fault, I want to own it. If I did it, I want to fix it. Amen.
If I’m just going through it and for no other reason, if it’s just happening because it’s life, what am I supposed to learn out of it? God, what am I supposed to do with it? And God always comes through because there’s purpose. Amen. Amen. In your pain. Hallelujah. Oh, glory. Who am I talking to tonight? I just like being right here in the middle of you because I’m one of you. I’ve been through the fire many a time. I’ve been reshaped, remoded, broken, slung off the wheel, picked back up, slapped again, molded back again, squeezed in his hands, and start all over again. I don’t know about anybody else, but I’m glad I’ve got a potter that don’t just throw us out the back and forget it.
Amen. Every now and then, he’s got to throw a little bit of anointing oil on us. Well, let’s loosen that up just a little bit more. Then he put you through the fire. But when you come out of it, oh mercy. Thank you, Lord. Just imagine. I I want you to think what would it be like when Carmen comes out of that wheelchair. I wonder if he’s going to hop right back on that motorcycle and go back to doing everything that he used to do. I believe when he comes out out of that state, I believe he’s going to glorify God.
And I believe he’s going to tell others about what Jesus did. Hallelujah. Praise God, son. A lot of you in this room, you’ve got the testimonies, too. The mess that you allowed your life to get to. Come on, somebody. Who Who are you? Who are you in this room? Come on, let’s watch this. Watch this. If you’ve allowed your life to become a mess from any time in your life, stand up in this room cuz I want I want you to raise your hand. Do do something Watch this. Watch this. Look around you. Look around you.
You’re not in this thing by yourself. They’re coming back to the music right now. They’re coming back to the music. Come on. Let patience have her perfect work. My goodness. So many people have a testimony because they went through a test. Amen. We’ve all had the mess, but he turns those messes into messages. It’s not meant to destroy you. It’s not meant to He’s not throwing you away. He is absolutely molding you into something that is used, a vessel. The word says when he’s talking about the potter, he made it yet again.
I love that part. I love that statement cuz that tells me sometimes we mess up. That tells me sometimes, and the enemy always will do this to you. If you’re trying to live your life right and do things right and you mess things up, the enemy is going to jump all over that say, “See, you can’t live it. You you you ain’t worth a dime. Look, look at that. It’s all wadded up. It’s it’s not even a vessel anymore. Can’t be used.” That may be true, but the part that ain’t true is that you’re not usable.
You only become unusable when you refuse to get back up and get on that potter’s wheel again. Amen. Amen. So tonight, I don’t care what you’re going through. There’s purpose in your pain. There’s purpose in the process. And it’s to make something out of you. They’re going to start playing softly. Sounds good. Did they not do a good job tonight? Amen. Good job. God’s blessed us. See, you you look at these youth and you say they was born with a silver spoon. No, I’d like to find it if they got it.
Ain’t that right, B? I’d love to find if they got it. You all don’t know what it takes to be on that stage. Maybe you do. I know some of these parents know what someone’s went through. It’s not easy being a vessel used of the Lord. And God’s still molding. God is still shaping. God is still moving and shaping every one of us in this room. Amen. Don’t let the process scare you. Don’t let it deter you. You make that decision. If you if you’ve just been lost and and you feel like there’s no purpose in your life and maybe you walked away from the Lord. Maybe maybe you didn’t really walk away. You just allowed distance to grow.
because of lack of spending time and my beautiful wife back here. If I never spent time with her and I was always gone, we would grow apart. It’s just the way it is. If I never talked to her, you did good. I seen you post. You put a picture of your wife and you said, “I want to wish my beautiful wife a happy birthday.” See, that that says if he never acknowledged that, he’s in the doghouse. I think I talk too good. What I’m saying is this.
You’ve got to spend time with the potter. You got to spend time with them. A lot of times it’s on your face at an altar of prayer, saying, “God, that was a good thing. I I don’t know what you’re doing in my life, but I’m a willing participant. This situation I’m going through sure don’t feel good. So, I need you to help me through it. Whatever Whatever it is you’re trying to work out of my life, God, show me. I I’ll do everything on my part.
Why? Why is it, God, that I can’t find the right one? Why is it, God, that I’m still struggling with my finances? I’ve tried this job and that job and that job and this job. Why is it God maybe he’s still shaping you? Why is it that things happen? That the trial of your faith have its perfect work. You know the worst thing you could do when you’re going through something? Watch this. Hold that music for just a second. I don’t want you to miss a word of this right here. Thank you, Holy Ghost. The worst thing you can do when you’re when you start going through something is throw away what it is that’s going wrong.
What do you mean? the worst thing you could do because it ends up if you if you try to start over and it ain’t God’s will to start over, you got to go through everything again until he gets that per imperfection out of you. So when things happen in your life, let me clarify. When things happen in your life, let’s just say you had issues with your spouse, don’t go find another and do away with that one. Figure out why. fix it. Get it under the blood and say, “God, help me.
Help me.” If it’s with your job, don’t quit it. Go to the Lord in prayer and say, “God, help me. Fix me.” It’s not always the job. It’s not always the other the other person. If you seem to be going, I’m going to go there. If you seem to go through a whole lot of stuff in your life, going through this and going through that, sometimes we just need to stop where we’re at and say, “God, maybe it’s not everybody else. Maybe it’s me you’re trying to work on.
We need to look at ourselves in the mirror and stop throwing everything else out out the window. Don’t you throw that truck away. Whole dashboard went out. Yeah. Not working. Don’t you go trade it. It’ll bring more hardship. Absolutely. Don’t throw it out just because it ain’t working right. God’s trying to teach you something. Absolutely. You know, when I got a flat on my bicycle, I didn’t go get a new one. I didn’t throw it away. You know what I learned to do? I learned to work on my bicycle.
I I learned to change tire or fix a flat. I learned to take it all apart and put back together again. Sure did. That’s my only mode of transportation before I got a car. Hallelujah. My hatchback Dodge Charger. I had to learn to work on that one, too. A little bit. Here. Here’s the thing. Sometimes we get so frustrated over things that God is not meaning to destroy you. He’s wanting you to figure it out. What is it? What is the imperfection that God is trying to work out of me?
Hallelujah. How many perfect people do we have in here? I better put my hand down. You better put your down. No matter how perfect you think you are, you’re still half a ded. There you go. Give me a give me a half thumbs up right there. Probably not a good show, but maybe it was. You know what I’m saying? Hallelujah. What am I saying? Here’s what I want you to know. Just because everything ain’t complete and perfect don’t mean it ain’t God’s will. He’s just working things out. let him work things out, but be a participant in what God is doing in your life.
He’s got you where you’re at. He’s got you where you’re at for a reason. He’s got you positioned on the potter’s wheel and he’s working. Allow God to do his work in you. Then he’ll work it through you. Amen. Don’t miss that. Don’t you miss that. Allow God to work it in you and then he’ll work it through you. Start that music back up. Listen, every bow your heads with me tonight. God, I know that we go through troubles and trials and we have pain in this life.
But God, there’s always purpose in that pain. And God, the only way that the anointing, the only way you get oil out of an olive is to crush it. And that’s a painful process. But when it comes forth, it’s meant not just for the person, it’s meant for everybody around them.
